Appeals are one of the key fundraising activities undertaken by WFA and incorporate direct marketing and street collections throughout greater Wellington. When combined, these appeals raise approximately $400,000 a year, and contribute significantly to offsetting our annual deficit.

WFA Postal Appeal

In mid-May 2008, Wellington Free Ambulance will be writing out to approximately 20,000 individuals, organisations and businesses in the Greater Wellington area, asking if they would like to make a donation to the Service. In addition, non-personalised appeal mailout will be sent to 155,000 letterboxes throughout the region.

The concept behind our previous mailout was "It's Ours. It's Free" and featured our ambulances at prominent (and free) locations around Wellington, including the wind turbine, Cuba Street bucket fountain, Lady Norwood rose gardens and the Oriental Bay fountain. These mailouts called for the public to "help keep it that way" by giving generously to our appeal.

WFA wishes to thank all the individuals, organisations and businesses that have supported us by donating as part of our postal appeals.

WFA Street Appeal

Wellington Free Ambulance will be holding a street collection through greater Wellington during the week of 22 September 2008.

Since 2007 the street appeal has been expanded into a wide area than in previous years, including Wainuiomata, Johnsonville, Waikanae and Upper Hutt. Typically the Service requires over 100 'helpers' to assist with the appeal, in addition to continued assistance from local businesses and organisations.

The street appeal culminates in an 'emergency services' parade through central Wellington on Friday 26th September 2008.
