Below are a few ideas for fundraising events you might like to organise in support of our Service:
A Charity Auction is an entertaining way to raise funds for our Service - a group could hold an auction of items (such as art or memorabilia) and invite the public to bid;
Businesses could hold either a Casino or a Quiz evening for their staff members;
A fun run or charity bike ride is a fun (and healthy) fundraising event, with entrants being 'sponsored' by friends and family for each kilometre they cover;
Sporting clubs could hold a charity sports event, such as a 'Golden Oldies' rugby match or a golf tournament, with supporters and/or participants making a donation for their involvement;
Schools or businesses may wish to hold a mufti day, with students/staff paying a small donation for the right to wear casual dress for the day;
create flyers, posters and newspaper adverts
promote the event on our Upcoming Events webpage
contact businesses via our social coordinator network, and advertise your event in our Pulse newsletter
liaise with both the Dominion Post and local community newspapers regarding media coverage of your event
Throughout our 80+ years of service to the greater Wellington community, we have been fortunate to have the support of businesses, organisations and community groups through various fundraising events.
Money raised from these events assist in covering our annual funding shortfall, and helps us to keep the service free to the patient. To read more about how we are funded, click here.
Additionally, fundraising events are a great way for businesses and organisations to get valuable publicity and exposure via their support of our unique charitable organisation. They can also be a fun and rewarding experience for both parties!
If you are interested in holding a fundraising event in support of Wellington Free Ambulance, then please either call on (04) 499 9909 or contact us via our online form. We are happy to discuss with you any ideas you may have;

Things to consider when planning a fundraising event
Decide on the specifics of your fundraising event, including the dates, location, who you will be targeting, how the donations will be collected and what promotional materials you will need;
If the event is a big one, then consider forming a committee and delegating each of it's member specific tasks according to their skills;
Fundraising events take time, so make sure you start planning your event early. Making a timeline will help you plan your event and help you work to deadlines;
Seek permission from the right people if you can stage your event. Whether it’s the local council or other organisations, it’s really important to make sure you have got this covered;
Have a back-up plan – for example, work out what will happen if it rains during your outdoors event;
How WFA can assist
We can help you with the initial ideas for a fundraising event, and our Community Support Coordinator can also assist with logistics/planning to help make your event a reality;
We can be a presence at an event with our dedicated 'Community Education' ambulance, and can supply event 'props' such as collection buckets/vests, WFA signage, balloons and stickers;
In addition, we can help with event advertising - we can:
