Buy the Capital of Cool Guidemap and help fund a new ambulance for Wellington Free
All funds raised from the Capital of Cool Guidemap will go towards the purchase of a new Mercedes Sprinter frontline ambulance for the paramedics of Wellington Free Ambulance.
Each year our 24 frontline emergency ambulances travel more than 2.2 million kilometres combined, and this type of workload takes a heavy toll on the vehicle. Having a reliable and well-maintained ambulance fleet is essential for providing the best possible care to our patients on a daily basis.

At Wellington Free Ambulance we are proud to be a beacon of hope for the community
Since 1927 we have delivered a fast and effective ambulance service to those in need, and as the region’s sole ambulance provider we respond to all emergency 111 ambulance calls for a population of almost half a million people. Whether you live and work in Wellington or are a visitor to this beautiful region, you can feel comfort in knowing that help is only a phone call away in the event of an emergency.
Each day our dedicated paramedics respond to over 150 calls for help – that’s over 58,000 patients attended to each year. On any given day we provide life-saving medical treatment at the scene of vehicle accidents, workplace injuries, breathing or cardiac-related emergencies, and the list goes on.
As a core part of the community we provide this service at no cost to the patient – in fact we are proud to be the only free emergency ambulance service in the Southern Hemisphere. We believe that everyone is entitled to quality emergency medical care regardless of their gender, ethnicity, age, religion, circumstances, or ability to pay for our services.
And it’s only thanks to the support of the public that we can remain both high-performing and free-to-the-patient. Your support ensures that our paramedics have the right training and access to medical equipment that allow them to make a positive difference in the community every day. Thank you. |
