KPMG Rescue One Vehicle Launched (17 May 2011)

Wellington Free Ambulance is pleased to announce their partnership with KPMG Wellington and launch the Wellington Free Ambulance KPMG Rescue Squad..

A rescue squad and an audit, tax and advisory services seem to be an unlikely partnership, but the organisations have partnered together because of shared values and a commitment to the Wellington community.

KPMG Wellington Managing Partner Godfrey Boyce said he strongly believes in the responsibility to put something back into the community where you live and work.

“KPMG are proud to get behind the Wellington Free Ambulance, and are committed to supporting the life-saving work of the Wellington Free Ambulance KPMG Rescue Squad in the years to come.”

Wellington Free Ambulance Chief Executive Alan O’Beirne said KPMG is a great addition to the team and their support keeps WFA delivering the highest quality service, whilst remaining free for the patient.

KPMG staff joined the rescue squad at the Wellington Free Ambulance HQ on Tuesday to have the new Rescue One vehicle, a specially modified Mitsubishi Challenger, officially named and blessed.

The Wellington Free Ambulance KPMG Rescue Squad is a highly specialised unit and the only one of its kind in New Zealand. Mobilised in situations where patient recovery requires four wheel driving, rope or winching techniques. The squad responds to off-road car crashes, construction site rescues, tramping search and rescue missions, and was deployed to Christchurch just hours after the February earthquake.

Wellington Free Ambulance is the sole emergency ambulance provider for the greater Wellington region and the only free ambulance in New Zealand. Donations and support from the community keep the service saving lives and free to the patient.
