Wellingotn Free Ambulance Paramedics quick thinking saves women before car explodes
Wellington Free Ambulance paramedics have responded to an incident on Manners Street this morning. The incident occurred at 9:42am and involved a collision between a pedestrian and a bus. The female patient received advanced emergency treatment at the scene and was transferred urgently to Wellington Regional Hospital with head injuries.
Wellington Free Ambulance has won the Health and Wellbeing category of the Wellington Airport Regional Community Awards for its initiative to teach CPR to as many Wellingtonians as possible. The initiative is called Operation Heartbeat. Operation Heartbeat is modeled on a similar programme running in Seattle city USA. Seattle city leads the world in cardiac arrest survival rates.
First up at Waitangi Park this Saturday morning you can watch sheep dogs in action and cheer on the racing Baa Blacks. The Baa Blacks - eight sheep dressed in black rugby-style jerseys - will race over 80 metres to raise money for the Wellington Free Ambulance. Pick who you think will be the fastest from names like 'Speedy Ram' and 'Stew Me' and win prizes. Races will be every hour from 11.30am to 3.30pm.
